Conflict: Person vs. Supernatural

          As I ran away i could hear the growls of the zombies behind me and the crunch of leaves that fell from all the trees in the forest. They had been chasing me for a good half hour. I had millions of thoughts going through my head at the time. The one thought that kept coming back is "where is my family"? Were they chasing after me hungry for my brains or were they safe at home wondering where I was? All these thoughts hurt as they went through my head and I had to focus on running for my life. Since I stopped running in high school I found this extremely tiring and wasn't sure how much longer I could go. I was slowly running out of breath and as I started to slow down I could hear the zombies getting closer to me. I knew i couldn't run any longer so I decided I would hide. I immediately saw a tree which I could climb up. I ran with what little breath I had to the tree and climbed as fast as I could. I sat for about 2 minutes until I saw a zombie run past me. Almost one hundred zombies had past me and then I heard the crack of the branch underneath me. The crack was louder then I thought because all the zombies looked right at me. They couldn't climb the tree but I knew the branch wouldn't hold me much longer. The zombies were attacking the tree like a group of five year old's attack the ice cream truck.

            Night was approaching and the zombies were still attacking the tree. This wasn't my first night I had been on my own since the zombies started taking over. It's been 15 days since I last saw my family and I was starting to be doubtful if they were alive or not. I had some rope in my bag so I tied my self to the tree. I heard the branch crack again and I was ready to just let go. I took out my knife and started to saw at the tree branch and when i got about half way through the branch it snapped. I fell 20 feet and hit the ground. It was extremely painful but not as much as when the zombies tore through my flesh like it was nothing. As much as it hurt it was also the best feeling to know that I was going to see my family again.

           I believe this one is most effective as a cover because it shows one of the main conflicts in the story. It shows us that there is a girl all alone in the woods in the night, this makes me think that something weird is going on because normally no one would be all alone in the woods in the middle of the night. It also show us that there is fairies in this story and they are a big part of this story and the conflict that goes on. "Lysander! lord! What, out of hearing? gone? no sound, no word?"(2,2) This shows us that she is not suppose to be alone and in this cover she is so right there is a conflict. It also tells us that she is with Lysander and we know that they are in love and he has left because of the fairies which are on the title of this book with Hermia. Had I not read the book and seen this title I would find it interesting and probably want to read it. The way that they illustrated Hermia is what I pictured her as, a beautiful young Athenian woman in very nice clothes. That is also what I see the fairies as because that’s the way I grew up seeing them as in TV shows and movies. This cover reminds me of Winnie the pooh because she is in the woods and that is where Winnie,Piglet and Tigger all live.

        In A Midsummer's Night Dream and my novel Catching Fire the themes are very similar. They are similar because in A Midsummer's Night Dream Helena wants to rebel against her father and marry the man he doesn't want her to and in Catching Fire Katniss has the idea to rebel against the capital and president snow by running away with Peeta and Gale and their families. They are very similar because both are rebelling against something for the thing that they believe in. I find that the characters that are doing this are also alike because both will stand up for what they believe in and what they think is right. Both of these characters want to run away and rebel but I don't think that is a very good idea because for Helena her father will kill her and for Katniss she will get killed by a very cruel president snow. Both of the characters are facing a internal struggle on what to do, whether to run away or to face the problem and probably die. In both situations for the characters when they wish to stay they will die from others from there own actions.

Literacy blog #3

My favorite part of my novel right now is the way the author brings back the past events into this book. The author connects the way that President snow said that they would start up a revolution unless they really play out their love.So far in this they have really had to act out their love for each other,so much so that they have to get married. Peeta was excited but we know that Katniss doesn't want to get married. I also like the way that the author gives detail to the environment  that they are in. The author describes the environment so well  that you feel like you can see it right in front of you.

All about me

My name is Jarrett Hamm. I was born in the wonderful month of may on the 19th. I am not very tall compared to some of my friends. One of the places that I really want to go to is the city of lights aka Paris,France. I love playing football and soccer. I played football for 8 years but I didn't play this season because I couldn't make any of the practices. I play for my schools indoor soccer team at Westwood Collegiate. I very much dislike Hollywood drama. I think it's a complete waste of time for people to worry about, but some people like that stuff. I don't read often but when I sit down and find a good book I can be there for days. The best book I have read lately is Percy Jackson and the Olympians I really liked the satyr. My english teacher recently told me that the satyr in that book was the complete opposite and that satyrs are drunk and disgusting. I was only a little upset at the fact that my favorite character was a complete lie. I find that my favorite types of books are either action or mythology. My favorite subject at school is science and english is probably at the bottom of my list (no offense Mr. Toms).
